Chris Cornell, the Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman, committed suicide by hanging himself. The Detroit Medical Examiner has confirmed that the 52-year-old killed himself on Wednesday night following a show in Detroit, Michigan.
The Grammy award-winning rocker was found dead in his hotel bathroom by a family friend, Detroit Police confirmed to Mirror Online earlier today.Confirming the police's initial belief that the Cochise rocker took his own life, the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced the cause of death as suicide on Thursday.
It comes after Michael Woody of Detroit Police Department revealed that officers were called to the MGM Grand hotel in Detroit at midnight in response to an emergency call from one of Chris' friends.
When police arrived, they forced entry to the hotel room and found the rocker unresponsive in the ensuite bathroom, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.We are investigating this as a suspected suicide," he confirmed to us. "That is the line we are proceeding along."
